Studies show that indoor water use can be reduced by almost 30 percent with water-efficient fixtures such as toilets, dishwashers, and clothes washers. Practicing waterwise habits is equally as important to improve water efficiency.

How do I use water inside my home?

Waterwise Tips

24% gets flushed down toilets.

20% is used in the showers.

3% is used in the bath.

Avoid using the toilet as a trash can.

Install a WaterSense certified toilet.

20% is used through faucets.

2% is used in the dishwasher.

Only run your dishwasher when it's full.

Turn the water off when scrubbing dishes

16% is used in clothes washers.

Do a full load of laundry each time.

13% is consumed by leaks.

2% is consumed by other means.

Fix a leak! Check for leaks and fix those that are found.
