Program Details & Requirements

New members who register for Cary Teen Council have their accounts active through May 31, 2021.  To ensure the safety of all members, in-person group volunteering will not be offered as we start our new year.  This policy will remain in effect in conjunction with State of North Carolina and Town of Cary guidelines.

Cary Teen Council’s Executive Board will be working hard all year to engage members through virtual programming and offering opportunities to achieve council volunteer requirements on an individual basis.  Our calendar year has been modified to be split into semesters for hour requirements to allow evaluation and modifications based on member feedback and available opportunities.

The 1st council semester will be from September 1 through December 31.  All members by December 31 must achieve one of the following to be in good standing:

OPTION A2 regular volunteer hours + minimum 2 council monthly meetings

OR

OPTION B:  6 regular volunteer hours

The 2nd council semester will be from January 1 through May 31 and details will be made available to members later in 2020.  Additionally, opportunities will be offered as part of our forum series, leadership series and virtual socials.  Not all opportunities listed will be for volunteer hours, instead these will be offered for optional participation based on your interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Once I register, how do I begin participating?

A: Cary Teen Council registration will be offered online through myCary only.  Once this has been completed, staff will reach out how to set up your profile at our website, www.caryteencouncil.com.  Depending on registration volume, it may take some time to follow up with all registrants as staff continues to work virtually so we thank you for your patience!

Q: Will in-person group volunteering be allowed at any point this year?

A: In an ongoing response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, no in-person group volunteering will be offered to start as we normally would provide in past years. In the months ahead, staff will be having ongoing discussions as guidelines are reviewed by the State of North Carolina and the Town of Cary. Should in-person group volunteering be allowed to resume, even if only in a small size offering, members will not be required to volunteer in person to meet their hour requirements and would only be offered on an optional basis to anyone interested. Everyone’s safety is of the upmost importance to the Town of Cary and there is no guarantee this policy will be modified by year end on May 31, 2021
