About the Center

Cary Senior Center, located in Fred G. Bond Metro Park, provides opportunities for ages 55+ to Create Active Retirement Years! Enjoy a variety of fitness classes, recreation activities, arts, volunteer opportunities, clubs and many other events. You'll also find a wealth of information about, and referrals to, resources for seniors. The center is available to rent for your private event. It's within walking distance of Bond Park Community Center and your link to many greenways throughout the park and town.

Virtual Programs

Virtual programs are classes that would normally be offered in the Cary Senior Center, now offered on the computer through WebEx meetings or events.  You can register for these classes by visiting www.MyCary.org, or clicking the title of the class below.

How to Register Online:

  • Go to www.mycary.org
  • Click on the Program Tab.
  • Search for programs by title (example: WeCare Coffee Chat)
  • Select Program and click register.
  • You will be prompted to log-in to myCary and complete your registration.
  • Follow the prompts to complete your registration.

WeCare Coffee Chat | Free | Webex| Tuesdays in September | 10–11 a.m.
We Care is a virtual share and care experience that will allow ages 55 and up citizens to connect with others. The purpose of this program is to engage those who may have a need for socialization, with the goal of fostering a community of care and resilience. Bring your favorite beverage and join the conversation! Coffee Chat will be conducted over the Cisco Webex platform by Cary Senior Center staff.

You Can Do it! | FREE | Webex | Wed, Sep 23-Nov 4 | 12:30-1:20 p.m.
Have fun and increase your cardiovascular endurance. We will keep you moving for 25 minutes, the remainder of the class will focus on stability, strength and/or flexibility. Great for all ages. Invitation will be sent via email prior to the class.

Functional Fitness (registration opens 9/22)|FREE| Webex |
Tue/Thu Oct 1-29 | 9am 
Improve your range of motion, as well as your joint and muscular flexibility. By combining resistance training, light weight lifting, chair yoga, and functional movement, this class will help with everyday living. No experience necessary. Wear sneakers and comfortable clothing you can move in!

Managing Medicare on the Internet | FREE | Webex | Wed Oct 14 | 1:30-4 p.m.
Now you can save time and money using the Medicare website and the NC Department of Insurance using your computer and getting fast results. Insurance companies change their plans and prices for services and medications annually. Learn how to find a part D plan using the Medicare website. Stay in charge of your Medicare with this class. This class is online, interactive, and free.

True or False - Be a Wise consumer of Internet information |FREE| Webex | Thu Oct 15 | 9:30am-noon
Are you frustrated or confused by the false information and the misleading statements so common on the internet and social media? How can you tell whether a statement is true or false? How can you tell the difference between disinformation or misinformation? Something that could make a huge difference in many areas, particularly with an election coming up. Learn the techniques to research what is the real truth and what is likely fake. This class is online, interactive, and free.

E-Books and E-Readers | FREE| Webex |Wed Oct 21 | 1:30-4 p.m.
E-Books and E-Readers are very popular. In this seminar, you will learn about the most popular E-Readers and E-Reader apps; how to purchase E-Books; how to check out E-Books from the Wake County Public Library, and the best places to get free and low-cost E-Books. Have your E-Reader/app with you during this class. This class is online, interactive, and free. 

Painting a Watercolor Landscape (registration opens 9/22)| FREE| Webex| Thu Oct 22 | 9:30-11:30 a.m. 
Brush up on your watercolor painting skills!  Join Lyudmila Tomova as she guides students through painting a simple landscape. This one-time workshop is virtual and free for student age 55 and up. Students provide their own supplies that include watercolors, watercolor brushes, 11 x 14 inch or 12 x 15 inch piece(s) of watercolor paper.

Navigating Social Media | FREE| Webex |Wed Oct 28 | 1:30-4 p.m.
This seminar provides an overview of the three most popular Social Media websites that are used by seniors. Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter are free online sites that allow you to share info including photos, text, and videos with other people. You can tell the whole world what you want to say, or communicate with just one person. All platforms have easy to access help and support available. This class is online, interactive, and free.
