Project Background

After consideration of both operational characteristics and safety concerns from a recommended listing of intersections to be included in the Reduce Congestion through Intersection Improvements project, the Evans Road and Cary Parkway intersection was selected as one of the top locations. 

Project Cost and Schedule

The estimated construction cost for the Evans Road and Cary Parkway intersection is $540,000.  Funding for this project was approved by Cary voters as part of the 2012 Community Investment Bonds referendum.

Phase I

Begin construction on a right turn lane for southbound Evans Road at the intersection of Evans Rd and Cary Pkwy and we will be constructing a sidewalk.

The right lane of southbound Evans Road will be closed from Passport Way to the intersection of Evans Road and Cary Pkwy. The right lane of westbound Cary Pkwy will be closed from Carywood Drive beyond the intersection of Evans Road and Cary Pkwy.

Phase II

Begin construction on a left turn lane to eastbound Cary Parkway at the intersection of Cary Parkway and Evans Road.

The left lane of eastbound Cary Parkway from Winfair Drive to the intersection of Cary Parkway and Evans Road will be closed.

Completion of signal modification, including pedestrian crossings.

All work is expected to be completed by Spring 2019.
