Cary is currently under a Stay-at-Home order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most public-facing and staffed facilities are closed to the public, including Town Hall. All playgrounds are closed but greenways, parks, and park restrooms remain open at this time. Some services have been canceled or are limited. Learn more.

The Town of Cary has declared a State of Emergency and closed Town Hall and all staffed facilities. Critical services including police, fire, sanitation, water distribution, wastewater, inspections and permits, 911, and 311 will continue uninterrupted. If you have a question or need non-emergency assistance, dial 311 within town limits. For emergencies, dial 911.

All Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources facilities are now closed and programming, including classes, events, and camps, is canceled until further notice. Facility rentals are canceled as well. This action follows Gov. Roy Cooper's executive order restricting public gatherings to 100 people or fewer, and is taken to encourage social distancing and prioritize the health of Cary's citizens. Full refunds will be issued for any registered camps, classes, facility reservations, and ticketed Town events canceled due to COVID-19. Learn more.

In 2016, Cary was named the Gold Medal Award winner for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. The American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), through the Gold Medal Awards program, honors communities that demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development, and agency recognition. This award belongs to the entire Cary community. The citizens have invested incredibly in this Town and continue to do so on a daily basis. To see why we brought home the Gold, watch the video below and see if you can spot yourself making Cary shine!
