Cary, NC -- Beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, until 5 p.m. Friday, January 24, contractors working for the Town of Cary will temporarily close the westbound outside travel lane of NC Highway 55 from south of Morrisville-Carpenter Road to Carpenter Fire Station Road.

This work will be happening around the clock, and drivers should anticipate delays traveling through this corridor all week.

At least one westbound thru travel lane will be open to traffic during this period. Eastbound NC Highway 55, Carpenter Fire Station Road and Morrisville-Carpenter Road will remain unaffected.

The westbound NC Highway 55 lane closure is necessary to install a new valve and new waterline tying into the existing waterline parallel to NC 55 Highway.

When this work is complete, it will help strengthen of the Town's water distribution system network, including maintenance of the new Good Hope Church Road Water Storage Tank, and will also help maintain existing water pressure in Western Cary.

This work is being performed as part of the Carpenter Fire Station Road Bridge and Intersection Improvements Project.
