Traffic Alert: Temporary Closure of Intersection at East Chatham Street and Walker Street
- The intersection of E Chatham Street and Walker Street will close temporarily beginning Monday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m., weather permitting.
- The intersection is expected to reopen to traffic on Monday, Nov. 18.
- Downtown businesses will remain open during construction, and parking will be available.
Cary, NC -- Contractors working on behalf of the Town of Cary will begin work to temporarily close the intersection of East Chatham Street at Walker Street on Monday, November 4 at 9 a.m., weather permitting.
The temporary intersection closure is necessary to perform underground sewer repairs, upgrades to storm drainage, water main replacement, relocation of utilities and asphalt patching safely away from traffic.
Electronic Changeable Message Signs and traffic control devices will be in place to direct traffic around the intersection closure. Downtown businesses will remain open during construction and will be accessible to patrons. Parking will also be available during construction.
The intersection is expected to reopen to traffic on Monday, November 18 by 9 a.m. South Walker Street from E. Chatham Street to Waldo Street will remain closed for construction until winter 2019-20.
