Ohio Fugitives Caught in Cary, One Remains at Large

Multi-agency search ends, citizens asked to be on the lookout

UPDATE: On the afternoon of September 30, 2019, the US Marshals Office notified the Cary Police Department that the fourth and final fugitive was apprehended in Durham, NC. All inquiries should be made to the US Marshall’s Office.

  • Following a multi-hour search for out-of-state fugitives with support from multiple agencies, the Town of Cary is asking citizens to be on the lookout for a suspect who remains at large and call 911 if spotted.
  • Lawrence Lee III is described as a thin white male with short dark hair and facial hair; has a tattoo sleeve on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and pants.
  • Three of the four fugitives were apprehended and taken to Wake County Public Safety Center where they await extradition to Ohio.

CARY, NC –  Following a multi-hour search for out-of-state fugitives with support from multiple agencies, the Town of Cary is asking citizens to be on the lookout for a suspect who remains at large. Lawrence Lee III is described as a thin white male with short dark hair and facial hair; has a tattoo sleeve on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and pants. While he is not believed to be a danger, citizens should not approach him; instead, please call 911.

Shortly before 2 a.m., the NC Highway Patrol alerted Cary Police that four fugitives from Ohio were believed to be in the area of Red Roof Inn, 1800 Walnut Street. Upon arrival, three of the four were captured without incident: Brynn Martin, Christopher Clemente and Troy McDaniel, Jr. Resources from the Highway Patrol, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, Cary Police Department and Raleigh Police Department remained onsite to conduct a thorough search for approximately two hours. Those apprehended were taken to Wake County Public Safety Center, where they are currently awaiting extradition to Ohio.

This remains an active investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or file a report anonymously with Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 460-4636. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at the caller's request.
