Domestic Disturbance Results in Cary’s First Homicide of 2019
- Michael Sauls, 59, of 2201 Piney Plains Road has been arrested in the shooting death of Patsy Wood Sauls.

CARY, NC – The Cary Police Department has arrested Michael Curtis Sauls, 59, of 2201 Piney Plains Road in Cary following a shooting at his home that resulted in the death of Patsy Wood Sauls. He faces one count of felony murder, punishable by death or life imprisonment without parole. He has been transported to the Wake County Detention Center in Raleigh for processing. This is the Town’s first homicide of 2019.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on September 19, police responded to a report of a shooting at 2201 Piney Plains Road. Upon arrival, officers found Patsy Sauls critically injured. She was rushed to WakeMed Hospital in Cary where she died from her injuries. Michael Sauls was still at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
