An anticipated 50-60,000 vendors and visitors from across the country will visit Downtown Cary for the 43rd annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on August 24-25 on the Town Hall Campus. The free two-day event will feature over 300 artists including featured artist JJ Jiang, Jerry Miller Award winners, live music, children's activities, and a variety of food and drink vendors.

The fun starts with opening ceremonies on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. and the celebration of art, music and food for the whole family continues until 6 p.m. On Sunday, the fun starts at 12:30 p.m. and goes until 5 p.m. A detailed map of the festival, artist directory, schedule of entertainment, a list of special activities offered and much more can be found on the Lazy Daze webpage.

The featured artist for the 43rd annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival is JJ Jiang, founder and director of the Village Art Circle Fine Art Gallery in the heart of Downtown Cary. As a fine artist, JJ draws his inspiration from both his eastern and western cultural roots, as well as his inquisitive mind and inner poetry. He excels in drawing, watercolor, and oil painting, while exploring subjects such as still life, landscape/cityscape, portrait and figure, Chinese calligraphy, and brush painting. His work has been widely exhibited, collected, and has won many awards.

With the large number of people expected to attend, parking is limited and available in public spaces and lots throughout downtown Cary, as well as at the church parking lot at the corner of Waldo and Walker streets. Accessible parking is in the Fire Department administration parking lot. The best way to get to Lazy Daze is the Town’s free shuttles from Cary Towne Center, 1105 Walnut St., or Green Hope High School, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Rd. Buses and shuttles depart starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. The last buses and shuttles leave the festival at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

To accommodate the festival, many streets around Town Hall Campus will be closed or altered from 12:30 p.m. on Friday to 9 p.m. on Sunday:

  • Wilkinson Avenue will be closed;
  • Academy Street from Chapel Hill Road to Ambassador Loop will be closed;
