Cary, NC - Cary Town Council will honor and recognize the North Carolina Courage, Cary's professional women's soccer team that plays in the top tier National Women’s Soccer League at the Thursday, July 18 Town Council meeting. The Courage sent seven players to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup to play for their respected countries. Four of the players were on the World Cup winning USA team; Abby Dahlkemper, Crystal Dunn, Jessica McDonald, and Samantha Mewis. Stephanie Labbé, Abby Erceg, and Debinha joined their respective countries' teams during World Cup play.
In addition, Cary is celebrating the Courage for winning the 2018 NWSL Championship and the 2018 Women's International Champions Cup. The team has reached many achievements that no other American women's soccer team has accomplished.
Citizens are invited to a celebratory reception on Thursday, July 18 from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at Cary Town Hall where players will be available for photos and autographs. Directly proceeding the reception, the team will be proudly recognized at the beginning of the Town Council meeting, which commences at 6:30 p.m.
