Facilities Closed, Services Shifting for July 4 Holiday

  • Town Hall and most staffed facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.  
  • GoCary fixed routes will run on a Sunday schedule, with Tier 1-only door-to-door service; Thursday garbage, recycling, and yard waste collections will move one day later to Friday. 
  • Bond Park Boathouse, Sk8-Cary and Cary Tennis Park will remain open with modified hours. 

Some Town services and operations will be affected by the Independence Day holiday next Thursday, July 4. Cary Town Hall, most staffed facilities and community centers will be closed. Thursday, July 4 curbside collections will be moved to Friday, July 5. The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed on July 4. GoCary will run fixed routes on a Sunday schedule. Door-to-Door service will be Tier 1 only.  

Bond Park Boathouse will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on July 4, hosting Independence Day activities in the morning. Cary Tennis Park will be open on Thursday, July 4 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sk8-Cary will operate camps on their regular 9 a.m.-5 p.m. schedule. The skate park opens for public session at 3 p.m., and will close at 6 p.m. 

Citizens using their grills or deep fryers this holiday are reminded to properly dispose of any cooking fats, oils and grease by taking advantage of the residential waste cooking oil curbside recycling program. Simply place cooled, used cooking oil and grease in a plastic screw-top food container. Once at least a half-gallon (approximately one, 2-liter soda bottle) is collected, properly label the container “Used Cooking Oil,” and call us at (919) 469-4090 or visit to schedule a free curbside pickup.
