Cary, NC – The suspect in a convenience store robbery crossed the line for a second time on May 8, and now Cary police are asking for your help identifying the man caught on camera behind the counter. A man entered the Stop and Go convenience store at the Valero gas station, 1350 Old Apex Road, Wednesday morning and proceeded directly behind the counter, where he took cigarettes and money before leaving the area on foot. No weapon was used in the incident. Described as a black male approximately 30 to 35 years of age with a dark complexion, facial hair and stocky build, he is believed to be the same suspect who robbed the Stop and Go last month on April 6.
On the morning of April 6, a man entered the Stop and Go convenience store at 1350 Old Apex Road and went behind the counter, brandished a weapon and took money and cigarettes. No injuries were reported. In both robberies, the suspect was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black Adidas sneakers with white stripes and purple latex gloves. Upon his arrest, he will be charged with armed robbery, a Class D felony punishable by up to 204 months in prison.
“We need the public’s help identifying this individual before he decides the third time’s a charm,” said Captain John Szymeczek of the Cary Police Department. “This was a frightening experience for everyone involved, and we’re asking anyone with information to step up and help us prevent this from happening again.”
