Cary, NC – The Town of Cary invites citizens to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, February 19 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center to learn more about immediate plans for three Town-owned historic properties, including preservation and stabilization, as well as potential future uses. Cary owns the A.M. Howard Farm, currently operated as Good Hope Farm, at 1580 Morrisville Carpenter Road; the C.F. Ferrell Store and Warehouses at 1928 Morrisville Carpenter Road; and Barnabas Jones Farmstead at 9701 Penny Road. A presentation will begin at 7 p.m. followed by Q&A.
The Town, working with consultants, has conducted a detailed structural assessment and historical background study to evaluate each property. The Town also held public meetings in May to gather ideas from the community in order to identify potential future uses for each property considering the needs of the community while also being sensitive to the historic resources they represent. About $1 million is funded for the initial preservation and stabilization needs of the properties.
