Three Named Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award Finalists

Winner Announced During November 15 Council meeting

  • Three Cary Citizens have been selected as finalists for the Town of Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award.
  • The Cary Town Council will host a reception in honor of all three finalists on November 15 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the Lobby at Cary Town Hall.  The winner will be announced at the Town Council Meeting immediately following the reception.
  • The Hometown Spirit Award is bestowed annually on one Cary resident who enhances the quality of life in Cary by preserving, promoting and carrying out positive and quantifiable, traditional small-town community values and traits.  

CARY, NC – Three Cary Citizens have been selected as finalists for the Town of Cary’s Hometown Spirit Award. The Hometown Spirit Award is bestowed annually on one Cary resident who enhances the quality of life in Cary by preserving, promoting and carrying out positive and quantifiable, traditional small-town community values and traits.  
 
The 2018 Hometown Spirit Award finalists are: 

  • Guy Mendenhall – Long-time Cary High Athletic Director and instrumental in creation and fundraising of the Cary Senior Center 
  • Brent Miller – Active Community Contributor through multiple civic organizations, including Cary Historic Preservation Commission and Friends of Page-Walker Hotel 
  • Cynthia Sinkez – Passionate neighborhood and community leader, giving back through her involvement with her local church, Cary Band, and schools.    

The Cary Town Council will host a reception in honor of all three finalists on November 15 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the Lobby at Cary Town Hall. Immediately following the reception, the 2017 award recipient Ralph Ashworth will join Mayor Harold Weinbrecht in Town Council Chambers at the 6:30 p.m. Council meeting to announce this year’s winner.
