Full Release

Cary, NC – Weather permitting, the Town of Cary will reduce Jenks Road between N.C. 55 and Roberts Road to one lane August 28 to October 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with some Saturday work. Drivers traveling through the area should follow the direction of onsite flaggers. This will allow work associated with the Wimberly Road Water Line and Western Cary Water Main Improvement Project, which is expected to be complete in fall 2019.

Once work along Jenks Road is complete, work will move to Wimberly Road before continuing onto N.C. 55 and Green Level West Road. Crews will install 8,500 feet of 36-inch pipe along Wimberly Road between the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility and Green Level West Road. This water line will ensure adequate water supply in northwestern areas of Cary while improving the reliability of the distribution system by providing an additional feed from the water treatment facility.

Throughout the project, work will occur along N.C. 55 between Jenks Road and Connemara Drive at various intersections as the Town makes modifications to the existing pipe network. Finally, an additional 3,500 feet of 16-inch pipeline will be installed along Green Level West Road between Green Level Church Road and N.C. 540.
