GoCary Door-to-Door Passenger Guide

*Download the Door-to-Door registration forms for seniors and those with disabilities. For questions, visit How to Apply page. Please note the Door to Door service is offered for eligible Cary residents only.

Overview

In August of 2001, the Town of Cary began the Door to Door Service System. This is specifically designed for residents who are 60 years of age or older, or for those who have a medical disability. Cary residents who meet the age or disability requirements are eligible to register for the Door to Door service.

The service area for the registered clients is any given destination in Cary for any trip purpose. For medical and employment the service area extends to Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Apex and Morrisville. Registration for this service is required. On June 12, 2008, the Town Council approved a new three-tiered fare system for Door To Door service passengers. Please keep in mind that the Door -to-Door service is a shared-ride service and not an exclusive, taxi-type operation.

Please note that all Door-to-Door applicants must register at the Cary Senior Center to provide proof of residence in Cary and disability forms (persons with disabilities). An ID card will be made for registered or approved riders. For questions about registration for seniors, please call the Cary Senior Center directly at (919) 469-4081.

For Trip Pick-Ups In-Town
GoCary vehicles will arrive within 15 minutes before or after the scheduled pick-up time. For instance, if the scheduled pick-up time is 2:30 p.m., the vehicle may arrive anywhere between 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. It is very important that riders are ready when the bus or van arrives since the driver will not wait more than 5 minutes.

For Trip Pick-Ups Out-Of-Town
Because out-of-town trips require GoCary vehicles to travel longer distances, passengers traveling to Durham or Chapel Hill's actual pick-up times may be up to 45 minutes past the scheduled pick-up times.

Inclement Weather Policy
For safety reasons, GoCary Door-to-Door services will not operate during times when it is unsafe to travel on the roadways. GoCary will operate according to decisions made by the Transit Services Administrator based on weather reports.

If you have a trip scheduled and are unsure if GoCary will be open, please call (919) 481-2020 (ext. 3) after 6 a.m. on the day of your trip.
