As a part of the new Wake County Transit Plan, GoCary has proposed a few service changes to benefit the public starting  August 1, 2018. This is in concert with other transit providers in the County to ensure regional mobility for all.

Note:  The proposed GoCary changes to extend services on Sunday (all Fixed Route and Paratransit), as well as increase midday frequencies for Routes 3, 4, 5 & 6, M-Sat will be funded by new revenues from the one-half cent sales tax approved last November by voters in Wake County. The Wake County FY 2018 (July 2017- August 2018) Draft Work Plan outlines complementary proposed improvements to the GoCary, GoRaleigh, GoTriangle, and WakeTRACS systems that can be made beginning in 2017 without needing new buses. GoCary Mission Statement: To provide clean, safe, reliable and efficient transit service to the community by being responsive to changing needs and focusing on customer service as our highest priority.

GoCary began in August 2001 as a transportation service for Cary citizens who were senior citizens (age 60 or older) or those with disabilities. It eventually transformed to a full-pledged general fixed route transit system in December 2005, while still providing Door to Door services to senior citizens and people with disabilities. To date, GoCary has provided 2,444,829 million passenger trips for citizens and visitors of Cary since its inception in 2001.
