CARY ENCOURAGES TREE REINCARNATION THROUGH RECYCLING
CARY, NC -- The Town of Cary wants to give your Christmas tree a second life by recycling it. Through January 30, 1998, trees may be dropped off at one of three special collection centers--Old Public Works Center on Dixon Avenue, Ritter Park, and Bond Park Compost Education Center. The Town will chip old trees into mulch for use in Cary Parks and greenways.
"Mulching recycles valuable nutrients back into the soil," said Cary Recycling Coordinator Wendy Worley. Worley added that this sort of recycling also saves water and cuts down on the amount of waste placed into landfills.
Whether citizens choose to take trees to the special collection centers or use the annual Christmas curbside pick-up, all ornaments, tinsel, lights, and other "foreign objects" must be removed before collection. Curbside collection is scheduled for the week of January 12, 1998.
