TOWN SELECTS MORAN TO HEAD

COMMUNICATIONS EFFORT

Cary, NC -- Susan Moran has been named Public Information Officer for the Town of Cary. Moran currently serves as the Public Relations Director for the North Carolina Travel & Tourism Division and is the former Public Information Officer and Cable Services Coordinator for Pitt County, North Carolina government.

"We believe that a Public Information Officer will be of tremendous help in improving the Town’s communications," said Town Manager Bill Coleman. "Ms. Moran’s energy, expertise, and experience will make a significant difference in how people see and understand the issues facing Cary."

The Public Information Officer position is part of the Town’s fiscal 1998 budget adopted last week. In addition to developing a comprehensive internal and external communications program, the Public Information Officer will oversee cable television administration, including the Town’s upcoming franchise renewal with Time Warner Cable.

"I’m very excited about joining Cary’s team," said Moran. "Some of the most rewarding work I’ve done has been with local governments. Local government is closest to citizens and one can see immediate results from the efforts made. I feel I can really make a difference in the lives of people every day, working in local government."

Ms. Moran holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from East Carolina University, and she is a graduate of the Municipal and County Administration Course of the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a native of Morehead City.

Moran will officially start her new position with Cary on July 24, 1997.
