CARY BIDS BON VOYAGE TO
SISTER CITY PARTICIPANTS
CARY -- About 20 students and their instructors will spend the next two days touring Cary, their "Sister City", before returning to Le Touquet, France late Saturday. The trip is part of an annual exchange program coordinated by the Town of Cary and Wake Technical Community College which brings citizens in from the small, French village to learn about the Triangle. While here, the group studies the latest trends in American food service. This years participants arrived in late August.
"Its a real treat to have them here," said Sarah Sheffield, Carys Cultural Resources Supervisor. "Its something the community looks forward to every year." Cary adopted Le Touquet as a Sister City in 1992.
The group will tour Carys Town Hall campus today around 3:00 p.m. and move on to the Cary Town Centre for a little shopping and dinner at the food court. After that, the visitors will walk over to Cary High School for the local football game. They will stay overnight with Cary host families who will also entertain them most of the day Saturday. The group will reconvene around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday for a pool party at Scottish Hills on Tarbert Drive, just across from Annie Jones Park. They depart from RDU around 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening bound for home.
