CARYS Y2K
SUMMIT II SCHEDULED
FOR TUESDAY
CARY, NC Abbot a dozen area agencies and business providing critical services to the area will attend the Town of Carys Y2K Summit IICarys second community meeting to ensure compliance and preparedness for Year 2000 issues to be held Tuesday, October 5th from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the Cary Community Center. As with the first Summit, participants in the Y2K Summit II will make short reports on the status of their organizations Y2K compliance specifically with regards to services in or for Cary. The rest of the time will be devoted to answering citizen questions. The Town organized the first and subsequent roundtable meetings in response to citizen concerns over possible negative effects of Year 2000.
"While everyone felt good about the
state of readiness in Cary after our first Summit, participants
thought it would be a good idea to come back for one more status
check and to give the public another opportunity to have their
questions addressed," said Assistant Town Manager Ben
Shivar.
Summit II will assess the status of each participating groups progress towards Y2K compliance with regards to their critical services, including contingency plans in the event of system failure. In addition to sharing information, Tuesdays meeting will serve to facilitate the timely resolution of any Y2K problems before they happen.
For those who cannot attend, the Town of Cary has devoted a section of its website, www.townofcary.org, to Y2K issues with links to organizations that provide services to Cary. In addition, Y2K Summit II will be videotaped for playback on Carys government access channel as follows: Friday, October 22, 7:30 AM; Saturday, October 23, 7:30 PM; Sunday, October 24, 3:00 PM; Friday, November 19, 7:30 AM; Saturday, November 20, 7:30 PM; Sunday, November 21, 3:00 PM.
