MOBILE CLASSROOMS VANDALIZED IN CARY

CARY, NC – Cary Police are looking for the person or persons responsible for vandalizing six mobile classrooms overnight at West Cary Middle School, 1000 Evans Road. Police believe that the vandalism occurred between midnight and 6:00 AM today.

Since no theft was involved, investigators believe the primary motive for the crime was to damage the trailers to the point of not being able to be used; the vandals were successful in that attempt as class cannot be conducted in the six units until cleanup and repairs are complete. Damages, estimated at this time to be over $75,000, include extensive structural damage to the units as well as to computers, televisions, and restrooms.

Cary Police’s Youth Services Division, in conjunction with the school resource officer and Wake County Schools’ security, will handle the case.

Cary Crimestoppers will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for this crime. Anyone with information may contact Crimestoppers at 226-CRIME (226-2746) or Lt. Chris Hoina at 460-4917. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at caller's request.
