CARY CHURCH TO
HOST
PRINCEVILLE KIDS FOR HALLOWEEN
CARY, NC Therell be more treats than tricks this year for several dozen eastern North Carolina children whose lives were turned upside down by Hurricane Floyd as White Plains United Methodist Church brings more than 60 Princeville children to Cary for Halloween.
The children, grades K-5, will travel by bus to arrive in Cary around 3:30 PM on Sunday to attend the churchs Fall Festival. Once there, the children will get to know their Cary hosts while bobbing for apples, playing carnival games, and walking the cakewalk. For their 6:00 PM return to Princeville, the children will take with them "goodie bags" filled with candy, school supplies, and personal items, all donated by Cary businesses.
The White Plains congregation decided to reach out to the Princeville kids after the Cary Town Council formally "adopted" Princeville on September 23rd, pledging to bring that community back from the ravages of Floyd. Since that time, hundreds of citizens have answered the call to volunteer, and tens of thousands of dollars of cash and goods have been donated to the town. For this event, Northeastern Bus Company of Rocky Mount is providing the transportation at a reduced cost to the church.
Anyone interested in getting more information about helping Cary help Princeville should visit the Town of Carys website at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469-4007.
