CARY POLICE OPEN MALL SERVICE STATION
IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

CARY, NC – The Town of Cary’s Police Department has opened a public safety service center in the Cary Towne Center near Belks department store, across from Radio Shack. In addition to bicycle officers and other police personnel, the service center will be staffed much of the time by volunteer graduates from Cary PD’s Citizen Police Academy. Folks visiting the mall can stop by the service center to ask questions, share concerns, or pick up a variety of crime prevention materials.

"One of the most important factors in Cary’s crime-fighting success is our strong relationship with our community," said Cary Police Chief WJ "Windy" Hunter. "The new service center is another step in our continuing efforts to partner with business to promote a safe community."

The service center is a joint effort between Cary PD and mall management who have donated the space and utility services. Cary Police have for the last several years also operated a service center in Cary’s Crossroads shopping center.

The idea behind the service centers is to take additional steps in getting police officers out into and interacting with the community they serve. In this regard, Cary also provides school resource officers in every Cary public middle and high school as well as two resource officers who share the responsibility of working with about a dozen Cary elementary schools.
