JOB CORPS TO HELP PRINCEVILLE RESIDENTS
PRINCEVILLE, NC Job Corps will go to Princeville Tuesday to offer a multitude of free services to residents who need help recovering from Hurricane Floyd. Some of the labor services that may be available from Job Corps volunteers include plumbing, electrical, brick-laying, and carpentry. Residents are encouraged to meet with Corps representatives at a community forum on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at the Edgecombe Community Collage Auditorium, 2009 West Wilson Street in Tarboro, NC. Princeville Mayor Deliah Perkins secured the Job Corps involvement late today.
Job Corps, www.jobcorps.org, is the nation's largest and most comprehensive residential education and job training program for at-risk youth, ages 16 through 24. Since 1964, the program has provided more than 1.7 million disadvantaged young people with the integrated academic, vocational, and social skills training they need to gain independence and get quality, long-term jobs or further their education. Job Corps is a public-private partnership, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. More than 110 Job Corps campuses exist nationwide, including those in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The Job Corps program is geographically comprised of ten regions; several states make up each region. North Carolina is in Region 4.
