FLOYD RELEASE 4
TOWN OF CARY CONTINUES TO BRAVE STORM
CARY, NC Even as the storm intensifies, Town crews are still responding to calls for service. Several minor traffic accidents have been reported, but no major incidents or injuries. There have been some structure failures including one reported collapsed roof. Although some trees have fallen, no streets are blocked at this time. No major flooding has been reported.
Power failures have caused both the North and South Water Reclamation Facilities to go to generator backup. The Cary-Apex Water Treatment Plant moved to generator power because of power fluctuations. All of the plants are fully capable of functioning on back-up power, and Cary water continues to be safe to drink.
Citizens are strongly urged to stay indoors throughout the storm, especially as daylight begins to break. The storm continues to pose a significant threat to life and property.
Town of Cary government offices are closed today; only emergency and critical service personnel should report to work. There will be no garbage or recycling collection today.
Cary citizens with NON-EMERGENCY questions or those needing to report downed trees or other property damage not posing immediate threats to persons should call the 24-hour FLOYD HOTLINE at 469-4090. At press time, the HOTLINE had received over 340 calls. All actual emergencies threatening life and health should be reported to 9-1-1.
Comprehensive information is available on our website www.townofcary.org.
The next update from the Town of Cary will be issued around 9:00 AM unless changing conditions warrant further action.
