CARY OFFICIALS EXTEND DEADLINE FOR
CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT

CARY, NC – One of the first actions taken last night by Cary’s new Town Council was to extend this year’s deadline for citizens to volunteer for seats on Town boards and commissions. The new deadline is 5:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2000. The number of applications this year is significantly lower than in previous years, and since Council wants to fill every vacancy with the most qualified citizens, the Town is hoping that the additional time will give Caryites a chance to consider getting involved.

Council will fill 25 positions in late January for service to begin on February 1, 2000. All appointments will be for 3-year terms, except where unexpired terms are being filled. Membership will be selected from Cary's corporate limits and, in the case of one board, its extraterritorial jurisdiction as indicated below.
