CATCH THE WINDS AT LAST SERTOMA SERIES CONCERT THIS WEEKEND IN CARY

Triangle Wind Ensemble closes out the Spring Sertoma Series

CARY, NC – All good things must come to an end, including Cary’s Spring Sertoma Series, which concludes with a spectacular performance by the Triangle Wind Ensemble (TWE) on Sunday, June 8 at 6 p.m. at the Sertoma Amphitheatre at Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 801 High House Road.  The free concert is part of the Town’s Annual Spring Sertoma Concert Series that features the best in free, live, outdoor entertainment.

The concert will feature more than 30 of the area’s most talented wind and percussion instrumentalists that comprise the TWE.  Members of the TWE perform six to seven concerts each year throughout the Triangle and maintain a commitment to collaborate with local school music programs and other community ensembles such as the Concert Singers of Cary.

“Here’s your last chance to catch live musical entertainment in the beautiful surroundings of Bond Park as part of the series,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.  “Music lovers of all ages are invited to enjoy the great food, music and fun that the Spring Sertoma Series offers.”

The ensemble will be under the direction of Robert Hunter, who is currently the director of bands at William G. Enloe Gifted and Talented Magnet High School in Raleigh .  In January of 2004, he became music director and conductor of the Triangle Wind Ensemble.  Hunter's most recent appointment came in February of 2006 when he became resident conductor of the Triangle Brass Band, an adult band in the tradition of early 20th century British brass bands.

The Triangle Wind Ensemble was founded in 1999 to provide the area’s most talented adult amateur wind and percussion instrumentalists with the very best performance opportunities.  TWE’s outstanding performances and innovative programming have earned the ensemble an outstanding reputation throughout North Carolina .  Recently TWE performed, by special invitation, at the North Carolina Music Educator’s Convention in Winston-Salem and received high praise from a very large and appreciative audience.

In case of rain, inclement weather updates will be available by calling (919) 469-4061, and signs will be posted at the amphitheatre.
