OVERTON TO HEAD CARY
INSPECTIONS & PERMITS DEPARTMENT
CARY

– Russ
Overton has been chosen to serve as the Town of
Cary
’s
Inspections & Permits Department Director.
Overton, 34, has been with the Town of Cary Engineering Department
since
June 22, 1998
, most recently serving as the Engineering Field Services Manager.
Overton replaces Bob Strowbridge who left the position this summer.
“Russ’ experience, approach, and
commitment make him an outstanding staff member, and he will do an excellent job
in his new role with the Town,” said Interim Town Manager Ben Shivar.

Cary

department.”

Overton graduated from
N.C.
State
University
in 1996 with
a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
He then worked for a private engineering firm for two years prior to
joining the Town of
Cary
as an
Engineer. He was promoted to the
Engineering Field Services Manager position in 2007.
Also, he is a registered professional engineer.
Overton has overseen many major projects with the
Town, including: construction of the USA Baseball National Training Complex; NC
54 (
Chapel Hill
Road
) widening;
and the ongoing
Kildaire Farm Road
widening.
Earlier this summer, Overton was one of 16 graduates
from the Town’s nationally recognized Leadership Enhancement and Development
(LEAD) program.
Overton and his wife, Kristy, have three daughters.
