CARY TO RECOGNIZE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR NOMINEES AT ANNUAL RECEPTION

CARY, NC – Sixteen Town of Cary staff have been nominated by their colleagues to compete for the honor of Employee of the Year, part of the Town’s employee recognition program designed to retain and reward the best in local government.  The outstanding individuals will be honored at a reception on Thursday, November 20, 2008 , at 3 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center on the Town Hall Campus, 101 Wilkinson Ave.

This year’s nominees are:

• Michelle Brooks, Financial Operations Analyst, Finance

• Debra Carver, Computer Systems Analyst, Technology Services

• Luther Chavis, Special Waste Collector, Public Works/Utilities Solid Waste Management

• Joe Clifton, Lieutenant, Police

• Dan Clinton, Stormwater Engineer, Engineering

• Ken Gordon, Firefighter II, Fire

• Debra Grannan, Senior Planner, Planning

• Chris Hendricks, Construction Worker III, Public Works/Utilities Operations

• Larry McDonald, Recycling Equipment Operator, Public Works/Utilities Recycling

• Gerald Mitchell, Wastewater System Worker II, Public Works/Utilities Operations

• Dale North, Facilities Work Expeditor, Public Works/Utilities Facilities Management

• James Pittman, Wastewater System Worker II, Public Works/Utilities Operations

• Kathleen Sanfratello, Records Supervisor, Police

• David Thomas, Code Enforcement Official III, Inspections & Permits

• Wesley Vo, Traffic Signal Systems Supervisor, Engineering

• Betsie Winokur, Data Analyst, Public Works/Utilities Administration

A committee of citizens and Town staff will select this year’s finalists and winner for the Employee of the Year award from the group of nominees.  This year’s winner will be named at a luncheon on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 , and recognized with a plaque and a $1,000 savings bond.  

The Town of Cary ’s Employee of the Year program was established in 1989 to recognize employees who consistently perform well beyond what the job description requires. Nominees are consistently courteous and helpful to others, and they strive to improve themselves and participate in the community.  Many nominations often include accolades from Cary citizens.  For more about the program, see Employee of the Year at www.townofcary.org.
