CARY URGES CAUTION TONIGHT AS SNOW AND TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO FALL

CARY, NC – Although snowfall has slowed, driving conditions are expected to deteriorate as temperatures drop tonight.  Despite plowing, sanding, and salting, there have been 51 storm-related accidents in Cary today.  Residents are urged to stay at home; if you don’t have to go out, don’t.

“As the temperatures begin to drop, folks need to realize that melted snow will freeze on roads and sidewalks causing black ice tonight and early tomorrow,” said Town of Cary Public Works Director Mike Bajorek .  “We can’t stress enough the importance of using extreme caution when driving until things warm up,” Bajorek added.

Since 6:45 a.m. Town of Cary A-Teams have been in action dispersing sand/salt mix on the Town’s bridges, overpasses, and major intersections.  Town A-Teams plowed today focusing first on clearing thoroughfares, major intersections, and collector streets; these will be followed by primary roads in subdivisions, then cul-de-sacs.  The Town does not clear private parking lots, including those in apartment and condo complexes.  The Town’s Snow Command will be operational through the night.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING
