Marvelous Music Series - Butch Thompson Trio
Herbert C. Young Community Center , 7:30 p.m.
Well-known for its long run on public radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion”, the Butch Thompson Trio plays early jazz and ragtime, “music for the people.” The Trio draws inspiration from a wide variety of sources: Scott Joplin’s graceful ragtime, Jelly Roll Morton’s
New Orleans jazz, and Fats Waller’s Harlem stride piano are all here, along with the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Louis Armstrong, Hoagy Carmichael and Irving Berlin. Tickets available at the door.  Call (919) 469-4061 for more information.

Third Annual Recyclable Sculpture Contest Awards Ceremony and Reception Come out to the Cary Towne Center in the Dillard’s wing to check out the recyclable sculptures made by the elementary and middle school students of Cary . On hand for the ceremony will be council member Marla Dorrel, council member Julie Robison, and Jim Reynolds director of Wake County Solid Waste. The Scrap Exchange will be on hand along with information on how you can buy recycled.
