of Meaning" Professional Art Quilt

Center
,
6 - 8 p.m.
Free
and open to the public
Exhibit opens October 3 and closes October 28.
"When an artist takes up a needle and seeks to express themselves in
the textile medium, what thought process and layers of meaning go into the
work? Why is this particular artistic vision best expressed in layers of
fiber rather than layers of paint or clay? Could it be a quilt if the
materials used varied from the stitched layers typically associated with
our common understanding of what a quilt is? Would it be art if the
artist's voice did not speak through these layers?" - Mary Beth
Bellah, Curator
