ANSWERING THE CALL TO SERVE –
VOLUNTEER
FOR
TOWN
OF
CARY
BOARDS
& COMMISSIONS
CARY
,
NC
– If you are ready to become part of
the solution, apply now to serve on one of the Town of
Cary
’s boards or commissions.
There are 37 vacancies on eight out of nine of the Town’s boards
and commissions. There are vacant
seats on the following boards and commissions: Economic Development Committee,
Information Services Advisory Board, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources
Advisory Board, Planning and Zoning Board, Public Art Advisory Board, Sister
Cities Commission, Utility Board of Adjustment, and the Zoning Board of
Adjustment.
“Volunteering for the Town’s boards and commissions
allow
Cary
citizens to have a direct impact on the issues that affect all
Cary
citizens,” said Deputy Town Clerk Karen Gray.
Gray added that public service is the most effective way to strengthen
the relationship between the Town and its citizens. “The Town relies
heavily on citizen volunteers to advise Council on making informed decisions and
formulating Town policy,” she added.
Board and commission members serve staggered terms, so
vacancies occur yearly. Appointments
range from one to three-year terms, except when un-expired terms are being
filled. Membership is selected from
Cary
’s corporate limits, and in some cases, its extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The application deadline is

. Interested citizens should visit
townofcary.org to fill out an on-line application.
Applications are forwarded to the Town Council to make selections for the
vacancies. Appointments will be
announced at one of the regularly scheduled Town Council meetings in January
2004 and appointees will begin their terms
February 1, 2004
.
