Celebrates the Season with the Annual Tree Lighting

– Start your holiday season with the
children of our community as they perform on
Sunday, December 7, 2003
at
6 p.m.
on the Town Hall Campus with the Town of
Cary
’s annual
Holiday
Tree Lighting and open house at the
Page
Walker
Arts & History
Center
.
With the beautiful 35-foot cedar tree as
a backdrop, come enjoy the joyful sounds of area children’s choirs, including
North Star from Northwoods Elementary, the Reedy Creek Elementary School Choir,
and Cary Children’s Concert Choir. Then, enjoy a sing-a-long of your favorite
holiday tunes led by CityFolk—Peter Smith and Jane Muldoon-Smith. This
year’s special guest tree lighters are the winners of the Red Ribbon Poster
Context-- Zoe Castellino from Kingwoods Elementary, Jasmin Huang from Penny Road
Elementary, Gabriellia Lorenzo from Farmington Woods Elementary, and Abena Anima
Nimako-Boateng from Green Hope Elementary.
Pulling the night together is
Master of Ceremonies, Lynda Loveland of WRAL-TV news.
After the outside festivities, the
celebration continues indoors at the historic
Page-Walker
Arts & History
Center
. For the kids, there will be cookie decorating and old-fashioned garland making
to celebrate the holiday season. While inside the center, decorated for the
holidays by the Friends of the Page-Walker, take a few moments to view the
posters created by our Official Tree Lighters and Red Ribbon Poster Contest
winners, visit the Cary Heritage Museum, view "then and now"
photographs of Cary environs, enjoy jazz by Bobby Moody in the main gallery,
magic by Michael Creech, and refreshments. Town
of
Cary Water Conservation
will be on hand with free water-saving gifts.

community celebration," says Lyman Collins, Cultural Arts supervisor.
"Bring a blanket and thermos of cocoa along with your holiday spirit and be
a part of this annual tradition in

All events are free. In case of rain,
the event will be held at
Herb

Community Center
, also on the Town Hall Campus. Parking
for this event is available at the new parking deck adjacent to
