IT’S THE END OF THE LINE FOR CARY ’S POCKETBOOK CROOK

CARY , NC – Cary ’s Pocketbook Crook’s luck may have run out.  William Michael Gilmore, 31, of 277 AD Hall Road , Olivia , NC , was arrested at approximately 2 p.m. on December 11, 2003 inside the Kroger food store at 940 US HWY 64 in Apex just after a woman reported her purse stolen at World Market, 2410 Walnut Street , at Crossroads in Cary .  Gilmore was attempting to use one of her stolen credit cards at Kroger.  Gilmore has been charged with 3 counts of Common Law Robbery.  Additional charges are pending.  

“We’re glad to have this person off the streets so our citizens can feel safer during their holiday shopping,” said Cary Police Lieutenant Kenny Williams.  “It’s important that shoppers keep an eye out for crimes like these especially during the holiday season,” Williams added.  

Gilmore is the prime suspect in a total of three snatchings, the most recent of which occurred at 8:05 p.m. on December 2.  A 53 year-old female was walking through the parking lot of Kildaire Plaza near Lynn 's Hallmark Shop at 1335 Kildaire Farm Road when a white male, fitting Gilmore’s description snatched her purse.  The same circumstances were reported in connection with a purse snatching on November 14 at the same location.
