Holiday Tree Lighting & Page-Walker Open House

unday, December 7, 6 – 8 p.m. , Town Hall Campus & Page-Walker Arts & History Center
This community celebration is a wonderful time to bring your blanket and loved-ones out to the Town Hall campus and welcome in the holiday season with your neighbors. This festive night features talented members from our community onstage in front of the beautiful cedar tree. Then join your neighbors at the historic
Page-Walker Arts & History Center , decorated for the holidays by the Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel. 9th Annual Cary Kwanzaa
"Strengthening Our Youth: 21st Century Leadership"

Saturday, December 27, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. , Herbert C. Young Community Center
Cary Kwanzaa is a communal, cultural celebration that honors African-American people and their heritage. It is a celebration for all people, focusing on the family, friends and the fruits of the earth. During Kwanzaa, people are invited to ponder the Nguzo Saba, seven powerful principles derived from African heritage, as a means of taking stock, celebrating achievements, and entering the future refreshed and renewed. The public is invited to the Karamu program, based on a model from Dr. Maulana Karenga, founder of the seven day cultural celebration. A guest speaker, Dr. Na’im Akbar, performers and a community market are features of the program. Cary Kwanzaa is co-sponsored by the Ujima Group, Inc and the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources. For more information call

Santa’s Workshop (ages 12 & under, accompanied by an adult)
Saturday, December 6, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. , Cary Senior Center
Cary Teen Council’s annual Christmas Celebration. Drop-in activity featuring Make It/Take It Holiday craft projects, light refreshments, and live entertainment. Special visitor from the NORTH POLE! While at Santa’s workshop, support the Cary Teen Council’s food drive by sending each child with two non-perishable food items. All contributions will be given to the Food Bank of N.C. Event for Children, with Registration Fee

Advance registration required for this event.  Parents must register their child in person at the Herbert C. Young Community Center .  This is a Cary Teen Council fund raising event.  

Mad Dash Baby Sitting (ages 3 - 10) 
Friday, November 21, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. , Herb Young Community Center
Parents, take a night out for you!  Let the Cary Teen Council entertain your children while you shop, go out for dinner or just enjoy a night on your own.  The children will have a light dinner, play games, make a holiday ornament and help trim the tree!  Pre-registration required in advance at the Herb Young Community Center , space is limited!   Children must be potty trained!  Registration fee made payable directly to Cary Teen Council.  For more information call (919) 460-4965.
Fees: $15 per child (additional $2 off for each child in the same family, i.e.: $13 second child, $11 third child, etc)

Annual Holiday Party (ages 55 & up) FREE

4, 1:30 – 4 p.m. , Cary Senior Center Ballroom
Come celebrate the holidays, old-fashioned style! Decorate the Center’s holiday tree, enjoy a cookie exchange and other holiday food treats, sing carols, and delight in a special theatrical performance by our very own “Far From Broadway” readers’ theater group. Soup and Sandwich Bingo (ages 55 & up)
