CARY ANNEXATION

The last time the Town of Cary pursued involuntary annexation was in 2002  when the Council voted to bring into the Town limits a number of  "donut holes" – areas of land surrounded by Town limits that were benefiting from their proximity to Town without paying Town taxes. Cary did not pursue/was not pursuing annexation into Chatham County this fall; that project was a planning effort known as the Southwest Area Plan.

Tonight's Inquiry Meeting is not a time to "sound off" about the Town's plan to annex land between Cary and Holly Springs.  It is a meeting for neighborhood representatives to get information about the annexation process and to get plugged into the communications effort.

"Sounding off" meetings will be in the form of public hearings in February.

For details, please see the annexation section of the Town's Web site, www.townofcary.org.

We hope this information is helpful as you work on this or related stories.
