POLICE CONTINUE SEARCH FOR ARMED ROBBER
CARY, NC – The Town of Cary’s Police Department is asking for your help in their continuing effort to locate and apprehend the suspect involved in the August 10 armed robbery of a Cary man working at his office.
That Saturday at about 4:30 p.m., the suspect, Virgil Larome Harris, walked into the victim’s office on 104 Fountain Brook Center in Cary asking for directions to the beltline. After the victim gave him directions, the suspect left the office but returned about 45 minutes later, walked directly through the waiting area to the victim’s office and pointed a gun at him. He robbed the victim of his credit cards and an ATM/debit card and threatened the victim and was able to obtain the PIN code for the ATM card. He bound the victim with duct tape and tied him to a file cabinet in a storeroom. Prior to exiting the office/business, the suspect also stole a laptop computer.
Police believe that Harris may be responsible for similar robberies throughout the Triangle. In Raleigh two weeks later, a victim was tied with duct tape, and his credit and ATM cards were taken, in addition to a computer. The cards were used at the same locations as in the Cary robbery. Then on August 29th, another identical robbery occurred in Chapel Hill in which the suspect brandished a handgun and robbed two men of their credit and ATM cards, tied the men with duct tape, and took a laptop computer.
