In coordination with the Cary Police Department’s School Resource Officers, the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is organizing the 5th annual Red Ribbon Poster Contest. Students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to design a poster that reflects the message of Red Ribbon Week, "I’ve Got Better Things to do Than Drugs." Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31, is designed to raise the awareness of elementary and middle school students, on the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and how they negatively affect quality of life. School winners will be recognized at the November 21 Town Council meeting. For any further information, please call the Herb Young Community Center at (919) 460-4965.

POSTER CONTEST GUIDELINES:
1. Please use one-half a sheet of white poster paper, no larger 14" X 22." Use any medium. Must not be 3 dimensional, and may be matted.2. Posters should incorporate the "I’ve Got Better Things to do Than Drugs" theme. Each poster is to be made by one person; no group projects accepted.
3. All posters must have the following information on the back:
STUDENT NAME, TEACHER NAME, SCHOOL NAME, SCHOOL ADDRESS and PHONE, SCHOOL CONTACT PERSON (Phone if different from school’s)
4. One winner from each of the schools will be accepted.
Each school will have at least one winner at the Nov. 21 Town Council meeting. 5. POSTERS must be delivered to the Herb Young Community Center by Nov. 4th. School Resource Officers will collect posters at schools Oct. 23-31.6. Home School and Private School participants may mail or hand deliver to:
