CARY POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING SUSPECTS
CARY, NC – Cary Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying
suspects believed to be involved in a robbery
from a local motel. This incident is believed to be related to similar
crimes in Morrisville and Durham.
On November 7, 2002, an occupant of a room at the Courtyard by Marriott at 2001 Hospitality Court in Cary, was robbed of this wallet after one of the suspects knocked on his door and identified himself as motel maintenance. The suspects said that they needed to check the phone in the victim's room. The victim went into the bathroom momentarily and upon his return discovered that his wallet had been stolen. A credit card belonging to the victim was later used at a Phillips 66 station in Durham. One suspect is described as a black male, 5'9" to 5'10" and weighing 165-170 lbs.
"We haven’t experienced this type of crime recently and are committed to ending it," said Detective Randy Byrd. "If occupants of a hotel are unsure about the identity of someone who is attempting to gain entry into their room, they should call the front desk."
Cary Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification and apprehension of the individual responsible for this crime. Anyone with information may contact Crimestoppers at 226-CRIME (226-2746); for Cary Police press 3 at the prompt or call 469-4017. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL.
