BOOZE IT & LOSE IT UNDERWAY IN CARY
CARY, NC – Start the holiday season off with a shot of responsibility! Expect higher visibility, increased patrols for drug and alcohol-related traffic violations and occasional DWI checkpoints throughout the holiday season as Cary Police, in cooperation with the Wake County DWI Task force and the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, implement this year’s BOOZE IT & LOSE IT driving safety program. The program will continue through New Year’s Day.
"Our primary goal is to reduce alcohol and drug related traffic crashes and deaths," said Cary Police Sergeant Don Hamilton. "Our participation in this project helps keep Cary streets safer for everyone."
Drunk drivers cost N.C. taxpayers nearly $1 billion annually in healthcare, insurance, and other related costs. Statewide, 35 percent of fatal crashes involve alcohol; this average increases to 48 percent over the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.
