FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 8, 2001
CARY VOTERS SHOULD MAKE PLANS TO VOTE
ON TUESDAY
On Tuesday, registered Cary voters will choose representatives for Town Council Districts A & C as well as one At-Large seat. This is the first time the Town of Cary is using the nonpartisan election and runoff method to elect Town Council members. The candidate with a majority (half plus one) of the votes cast for his/her seat wins. If no candidate takes at least half plus one of the votes, the candidate wining the most votes is declared the winner unless the candidate receiving the second highest number of votes requests a runoff. Then, a runoff will be held on November 6, 2001.
Polls open at 6:30 AM and close at 7:30 PM. Voting results will be carried live from the Wake County Board of Elections beginning at 7:30 PM via Cary’s Town Hall TV, cable channel 11. For more information, visit www.townofcary.org.
