CAMPBELL CONFIRMED FOR FINAL CARY CONCERT CARY, NC – Two-time Nashville Music Awards nominee and National Public Radio featured folk artist Kate Campbell will headline the final, FREE concert of the Town of Cary’s Sertoma Series this Sunday, October 21st at 4:00 PM at Sertoma Amphitheater in Fred G. Bond Park, 801 High House Road in Cary. Campbell’s appearance is part of her current international tour to promote her fifth and latest release, Wandering Strange, which has been heralded by Billboard, USA Today, Music Reviews Quarterly, LA Daily News, and the Washington Post. Something of a late-bloomer, singer/songwriter Campbell didn't begin her professional career until the age of 30, but in short order, she managed to include the likes of Guy Clark, Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller and the heart of the Muscle Shoals classic soul and R&B hit-making machine as both admirers and collaborators in her distinctly literate musical vision. Campbell’s endearing, clear-water vocal delivery and eloquent gift for storytelling has drawn repeated comparisons to the Southern writings of Flannery O'Connor, Eudora Welty, and William Faulkner. And her easy command of a full-range of American music styles has earned Campbell recognition as a formidable talent by critics, musicians and a discerning public. Based in Nashville, Campbell has developed a dedicated following throughout the country with her graceful, literate songs. Many fans and critics feel Campbell belongs in the company of musical literati like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, and Lucinda Williams. Opening for Kate Campbell will be local favorite folk duo "City Folk." Jane Muldoon-Smith and Peter Smith have been singing together for 20 years playing music spanning from contemporary acoustic folk and pop music to country-folk music. They live in Cary with their four children. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to the Kiwanis Shelter which is adjacent to the amphitheater.
