This years initiative is designed to bring baseball and fires safety together to teach children and their families simple steps they can take to strike out home fires, particularly the three most common causes: cooking, heating, and electrical. Similar events will be taking place all over the state and the nation.
Fire Prevention Week is a nationwide initiative designed to heighten awareness and reinforce the importance of fire safety annually during the second week of October, the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has been the official sponsor of National Fire Prevention Week since 1922.
