CSX FREIGHT DERAILS IN CARY
CARY, NC – Several cars of a CSX freight train have derailed at 2100 Davis Drive in Cary. At this time, Cary Police’s preliminary observations report no injuries, no hazardous materials discharged, and no major damage to surroundings. The derailed cars reportedly contain a powder associated with concrete.
The derailed cars remain upright near the tracks, and the train does not appear to be blocking major travel routes.
The train was traveling south towards Apex. The Town of Cary was notified of the incident around 7:00 PM, and Cary Police remain on the scene offering assistance as needed.
Officials with CSX report to Cary that they may wait until daybreak to clear the derailment.
