BOOZE IT & LOSE IT SEASON UNDERWAY AGAIN

CARY, NC – Expect higher visibility, special events, and even checkpoints as you travel roads throughout North Carolina as local law enforcement agencies partner to implement this fall’s BOOZE IT & LOSE IT driving safety program. Over the next several weeks, Cary Police will be conducting DWI checkpoints and increasing patrols for alcohol related traffic violations in cooperation with the Wake County DWI task force.

"Our goal is to help reduce alcohol related traffic deaths and injuries," said Cary Police Sergeant Allan Murray. "We have been active in this project over the years and feel that continuing our efforts as a participant will continue to keep our numbers lower than the national average."

Statistics for 2000 showed a 30 percent alcohol related fatality rate in N.C, significantly lower than the national average of about 42 percent. In Cary, there were no alcohol related traffic fatalities in 2000.
