Free Concert of Patriotic and Inspirational Music
The Town of Cary kicks off its Sertoma Series with a free concert by The Triangle Wind Ensemble, a notable 45-member regional performing ensemble. The concert is scheduled for 5:00pm at the Sertoma Amphitheater in Bond Park on Sunday, September 30, 2001. In light of the recent national events, the group will feature a repertoire of patriotic and inspirational music. The concert is free and open to the public. Sertoma Amphitheater is located inside Bond Park at 801 High House Road in Cary.

Leon Bates and Chris Brubeck’s Trio
One of America’s leading pianists, Leon Bates and Chris Brubeck’s jazz trio "Triple Play" will open the Town of Cary’s Marvelous Music Series with a joint concert on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at 7:30 PM at the Herb Young Community Center. Bates has received critical acclaim for his concerts at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center and the Hollywood Bowl. Triple Play is led by Chris Brubeck, son of the legendary jazz great Dave Brubeck. Free Bluegrass Concert at Sertoma Amphitheater

Banjo In The Hollow
will present an afternoon of bluegrass music from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Sertoma Amphitheater in Bond Park on Sunday, October 7, 2001. The afternoon will feature four of the area’s finest bluegrass bands. The public is invited to enjoy the mini-festival free of charge. Sertoma Amphitheater is nestled inside Fred G. Auditions for Town of Cary’s Holiday Tree Lighting Show
The Town of Cary is seeking residents and groups to perform at The Town’s popular, community-wide Tree Lighting Celebration. Auditions will be held Wednesday, October 10 and Thursday, October 11 for the event occurring on Sunday, December 2nd, 2001. Indian Culture Comes to Cary
On Saturday, October 20, enjoy the sights and sounds of India at the first Cary Diwali Celebration. The event will be held from 11am- 5pm at the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 404 N. Academy Street. The celebration features music, entertainment, a fashion show, and activities for children. Food from the Indian subcontinent will be available, and a bazaar featuring crafts, clothing and jewelry will also be part of the day.

Diwali, which means "a row of lights," celebrates the victory of good over evil, and is one of the most widely observed of Indian holidays. Cary Diwali offers a glimpse of thousands of years of Indian culture in a modern festive setting. Discover traditional costumes, the art of henna painting, and much more. This event is free and open to the public.

Friends of the Page-Walker Literary Tea
"A Celebration of Vintage Books and Classic Authors". Tea participants will enjoy a sumptuous array of sweets and savories, accompanied by a perfectly brewed cup of tea, continuously replenished by friendly servers at each table. A selection of vintage books will be offered for silent auction throughout the event. Special table settings, a take-home memento, and pleasant background music will carry out the theme. 3:00 - 5:00 PM. $20.
