NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 31, 2000 APPLAUSE! PRESENTS ANNE OF GREEN GABLES CARY, NC – Anne of Green Gables, Applause! Cary Youth Theater’s fall production, will be presented at the Cary Academy Fine Arts Hall, 1500 N. Harrison Avenue. Performances are scheduled for Friday, November 17 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Tickets for the play are $5 ($3 for children 12 and under) and may be purchased at the door or are available in advance at the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Office, the Cary Community Center, the Bond Park Community Center, Jordan Hall and the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Joseph Robinette’s stage play adaptation of Anne of Green Gables captures the charm and excitement of L. M Montgomery’s enduring classic about the orphan girl Anne Shirley from her first encounter with her austere guardian to her thrilling graduation from Queen’s Academy. Cary’s production of Anne of Green Gables features 25 cast members from the Cary area including 14-year old Mary O’Brien as Anne Shirley, 16-year old Amy Rossi as Marilla Cuthbert and 13-year old Andrew Wallace as Gilbert Blythe. The play is directed by Vincent Genna. Applause! Cary Youth Theater provides performing arts opportunities for young people in Cary including classes, workshops and on-stage productions.
